The installation and the uninstallation can be made in automatic modes or in mode
module by module. The latter permits to install all or some of the modules of a given
type, while controling the room that remains on your hard disk at any time.
It also permits to uninstall all or some of these modules, to free room on
disk.
The automatic modes permit, for a given installation type (minimal, standard,
etc.) to add, to override, to suppress or to update all modules of the type selected
:
- The option Ajouter (Add) installs the modules of a given type, that are
not installed already.
- The option Écraser (Override) installs all modules of a given type.
- The option Supprimer (Delete) uninstalls (deletes) all modules of a
given type that are found on the disk. The modified files can be preserved.
- The option Mettre à jour (Update) uninstalls all files of the former
modules of a given type, then reinstalls the new versions of the modules.
If some former files have been modified, the program asks whether they
must be preserved or suppressed.
For example, if you made the Minimal installation (minimum to create /
view / print documents in Plain TeX/ LaTeX), and that you only use Plain
TeX, you can uninstall LaTeX 2.09 and LaTeX2
while selecting the mode
Supprimer automatiquement (Delete automatically), then successively the
types LaTeX2.09 and LaTeX2e. The occupied room decreases by 5 to 15
Mb.
Remark: depending on the general installation type that is adopted, some
components can be pointed out as missing, during uninstallation. It is normal:
chemtex for example (chemistry formulas with LaTeX), is not installed with the
Minimal installation but it is with the Complete installation.
