6.1 Registration of the environment variables under Windows NT (mod. 14/04/2000) 

If you work under Windows NT 4.0, the value of the variables ASTEXDIR, ASTEXBAS, TMPDIR and HOME must be recorded in the registry database before installing the assistant. Normally, it is made automatically by the installation program. If there was a problem and that it has not been made, or if you made an update and that it had not been made at the time of the first installation, or if you changed disk source for the Plug & Play, you must enter these values by hand with the standard practice of Windows NT  :
  1.  Open the configuration panel by clicking on DŚmarrer | Parameters | configuration panel.
  2.  Click on the icon System to open the dialog box Properties of the system, and select the tab Environment (cf. Fig.  6.1).

  3.  In the field Variable, type ASTEXDIR. In the field Value, type the name of the main directory of AsTEX, click then on the button Fixer la valeur (Fix the value), to confirm. Proceed in the same way for the variables ASTEXBAS, TMPDIR and HOME. If you don't remember the values of these variables, read them in the configuration file ast\astex\astexini.bat.
