6.3 Installation of MuPAD, Scilab etc.

If you used the customized installation, you must install the programs of the subdirectories alg, num, utils and view of the main directory astexdis with the help of their own installation programs. You can do it from assistant AsTEX or from the Windows Explorer.

If you made the installation in Plug & Play, you have to install only MuPAD Pro and Pegasus Mail (if you intend to use these programs). All other programs can be executed directly from the CD-ROM. If one among them seems not to function correctly, install it from its installation program, then uninstall it. The net result of the operation is to copy solely on your hard disk the common libraries in the windows\system directory, and to record them in the registry database of your machine.

6.3.1 Installation from assistant AsTEX

Click on the icon Assistant AsTeX in the folder AsTeX 3.1 :

then on the fourth button of the Assistant strip. This opens the panel Installation of programs :

To install MuPAD Light for example, click on the button MuPAD Light . During the installation procedure, select the directory ast\alg\mupad so that MuPAD Studio is coupled correctly to the assistant's buttons.

The directories in which you must install the other programs are indicated in the section below¹ . If you install them elsewhere, you should modify the paths consequently, in the buttons of the panel Programs | Programs included in AsTeX 3.1 (cf. User's manual of AsTEX or the assistant's on line help, sec. 7.5 Modify the texts of a button).

6.3.2 Installation from the Windows Explorer

If you didn't install assistant AsTEX, or if you downloaded the different programs from the network in a personal directory, you must install them from Windows Explorer. Click on :

: mupadlit.exe, mu129a.exe or mupadpro.exe (directory astexdis\alg of the CD-ROM) to install MuPAD Light, MuPAD Studio or MuPAD Pro. Ins- tall it in the directory ast\alg\mupad or ast\alg\mu129a (MuPAD Stu- dio) so that it is coupled correctly to the buttons of the assistant² .
: scilab.exe (directory astexdis\num) to install Scilab 2.4. Install it in the directory ast\num\scilab.
: setup.exe (directory astexdis\assist) to install assistant AsTEX.
: dircmp.exe, pegasus.exe, sinfo.exe, tex2rtf.exe (directory astexdis\- utils) to install Directory Compare, Pegasus Mail, System Info and TeX2rtf respectively. Install TeX2rtf in the directory ast\utils\tex2rtf.
: ar32f301.exe, cp32e405.exe, msie301.exe (directory astexdis\view) to install Acrobat respectively Reader 3.01, Netscape 4.05 or Internet Explo- rer 3.01³ . Install them in the directories ast\view\acroread, ast\view\netscape.
