Before proceeding with the installation of the dvi previewer Dview of
B. Malyshev, check that you deactivated your antivirus, if you have one installed
permanently. Also check that Scientific Word is not installed on your computer,
otherwise, uninstall it or deactivate its screen manager. Indeed, Dview uses
ATM (Adobe Type Manager) for its display, and the system of display of
Scientific Word is incompatible with ATM (some characters are replaced by
others)4 .
These verifications being made : to use Dview, you don't have anything special to do
if you work under Windows 9x and if you run the installation from the AsTEX CD-ROM
version 3.0d or ulterior, or if ATM (Adobe Type Manager) is installed already on your
computer5 .
If you work under Windows NT, you must get a recent copy of Adobe Type Manager
for Windows NT and install it on your PC, if you want to use Dview (the
version of ATM included in Adobe Acrobat Reader 2.0 only works with
Windows 3.x/9x).
In all others cases, you must install Acrobat Reader 2 beforehand from the
program acroread.exe (directory astexdis\view of the CD-ROM). To do
it :
- Close all your applications (the installation program of Acrobat Reader
resets Windows) and click on
acroread.exe from the Windows Explorer,
in the adequate directory.
- Launch assistant AsTEX and open the panel Programs | Initializations
of the programs of AsTeX 3.
- Click on the button Ini Dview of this panel, to initialize Dview.
- Click on the button Ini/sys/flt/atm of this same panel : this opens the
dialog box AsTeX - Initializations.
- Click on the button Initialization ATM of the box AsTeX -
Initializations to couple Dview with ATM.
Once these made operations, you can use Dview from the toolbar Programs |
Dview of the assistant, or from the icons AsTeX dvi color and Voir dvi color
of the folder AsTeX 3.1. To test all his/her/its possibilities (inclusion of
bitmap and PostScript images in color, formulas in color, research of chains of
characters), click on the button DVIEW of the toolbar Programs | Dview of the
assistant.
