About me

My Name is Vincent Levorato, and I am a french Researcher in Computer Sciences

I am a doctor in Computer Sciences who is mainly interested in Complex Systems Modeling, and Machine Learning.
I'm working at OCTO Technology company in the Big Data Analytics team, and I am also an associate researcher in the LIFO laboratory (Constraints and Machine Learning team). My principal Machine Learning "hobby'' is unsupervised learning, with sometimes a touch of graph theory.
Concerning education, I was teaching at exia.cesi engineer computer sciences school, and was the national head for Research exposure and Sciences school program. I now give training sessions at Octo Academy.
I received my PhD in Computer Sciences in 2008 from University Paris Vincennes-St Denis at the EPHE-Sorbonne LaISC laboratory after making my previous formation at University of Reims.

PretopoLib

PretopoLib is a JAVA library implementing all the mathematical concepts of pretopology. Pretopology is a mathematical theory for analysis, modeling and simulation in several domains: human and social sciences, game theory, graph theory extension, networks, discrete spaces, GIS. It allows the elaboration of powerful tools and ensures the follow-up of step-by-step processes like dilatation, alliance, pseudo-closure, closure, or acceptability.

Partner:

AGAPE library

This work is related to the AGAPE ANR project (FPT and exact graph algorithms) which objective is to develop new techniques to solve exactly NP-hard problems on graphs, and which is funded by the French National Research Agency. I worked as an research engineer to implement and validate some algorithms developed in this project. It is an open source Java implementation of exponential or parametrized graph algorithms of the literature.

Partner:

SERVEUR project

This project, supported by the CITERES lab, is a regional research program (Centre) which objective is to identify in an urban context the impact of open spaces, for both people and authorities. This work intends to initiate a process to reproduce, characterize, and evaluate the socio-economic benefits of urban crossing in a mathematical model dealing with economic, environmental and social aspects. This action research project, which aims multidisciplinary, brings together geographers, planners, ecologists, sociologists, economists, mathematicians, computer scientists and geologists.

Partners:

InnovENT-E project

The InnovENT-E project aim is to develop through dedicated training, the capacity of French SMEs to innovate, but also to expand internationally. This project has recently won French future investments dedicated to excellence in innovative training initiatives (IDEFI). Thus, gathering resources needs to have methods to describe a shared object and to validate the interest of its sharing. This is the subject of the InnovENT-E certification. It comes in three levels (Listed, Certified and Certified Plus). Two modules of mine have achieved the "Certified Plus", underneath the title "Design of an innovative product".

Books

Z.T. Belmandt. Basics of Pretopology, Hermann, 155 pages, ISBN : 978 27056 8077, 2011

Z.T. Belmandt is a collective name for a group of scientists working on Pretopology namely Marcel Brissaud, Michel Lamure, Jean-Jacques Milan, Jean Paul Auray, Nicolas Nicoloyannis, Gérard Duru, Michel Terrenoire, Daniel Tounissoux, Djamel Zighed, Stéphane Bonnevay, Le Thanh Van, Marc Bui, Soufian Ben Amor and Vincent Levorato.
Pretopology theory relies on the statement that the axiomatic of mathematical topology is too strong to model the phenomena of social sciences. This axiomatic has to be reconsidered to give birth to a theory that is adapted to data issued from these fields of expertise, better than trying to force data to fit to an existing and inadequate theory. This book is the first English revised version of a first book, published in French, which is planned to be the first of a series dedicated to the whole set of results obtained in Pretopology: continuity, connectedness, associated metric... Many applications of Pretopology were conducted in various fields: economy with the structural analysis of a economy, game theory with the study of the dynamics of coalitions in cooperative games, sociology with analysis of social networks, data analysis with the construction of clustering algorithms, pattern recognition with digital image analysis as in mathematical morphology, etc.
