URIs and the Resolver

• a disadvantage of the hardwired filename is that this is non-portable
• when writing an application, you should avoid making the assumption that data and/or functors are going to be found in the current directory
• a URI would be better:
  • URI = Uniform Resource Identifier
  • a global name that uniquely identifies a resource
  • resolved to the actual location of the resource by some magical means

Let's take a look at what is actually happening when the application executes:
