University of Orleans started the European
degree system in
September 2004.
It now has Bachelor’s degree programmes
in 5 fields.

And Master’s level degrees in

Doctorates are
undertaken within the framework of two Doctoral schools.

teaching programmes are centred round 34 research
laboratories coordinated by the Research
Department and are divided
into 6 centres of excellence :

Focus has been place on the development of the
promotion of research and technology transfer,
to increase university –enterprise links
The university department of economic relations (SURE) has
been increasing its activities and influence.
The year 2006 at the University of Orleans is the year of
innovation, promotion and technology transfer;
The University of Orleans welcomes over 15000
students on four sites : Bourges, Chartres , Indre (Chateauroux
and Issoudun) and Orleans.
882 lecturers and research lecturers
teach in four Faculties, I Engineering
school and 4 Institutes of Technology
530 administrative staff, technicians, maintenance staff
and librarians and nurses welcome students and enable the
smooth running of the University.
Every
year over 2200 foreign students from 101
different nationalities register at the University of Orleans
, including 477 within the framework of inter-university
exchanges. The
International Relations Department welcomes
the students .
The DEVE, the Student and Academic affairs
department welcomes foreign students who are
not part of the exchanges.
French language courses are organised for interested
students.
Every Year , 500 students from the University of Orleans spend at
least six months in a foreign country, in a company as part
of a work placement or studying in a partner
university.
Educational and technological means are available
for students to help them in the faculties and libraries.
The catalogue
of periodicals is available on line.
Digital tools to communicate , obtain on line information,
documents :
- Computers,
- WI-FI centres,
- Open
access computer labs,
- Video-conference
facilities.
- On line services
Students can benefit from, cultural, artistic, sports
and club facilities, or they can take part in activities
proposed by relevant and specialised services which
are centred on the Maison
de l’étudiant . These same services help them to set up their own projects.
The University of Orleans is at the heart of several
networks of partners : local authorities, firms, organisations,
associations. These partnerships enable the university to increase
its ability to ensure quality, diversity, qualification
and reality in the lives of students.
They are also a reflection on the contribution of the
University of Orleans in regional , national and
international economic development.
In 2006, the University is celebrating its 700th anniversary. |
