Résumé :

Low-temperature plasma devices are currently used for a variety of applications, including space propulsion and plasma-assisted deposition and etching. The range of applications is projected to expand further over the next few decades, thanks to the emergence of new techniques for source operation and new device architectures. Yet it has become clear that these sources, much like high-temperature plasmas, are home to a range of highly complex features : plasma waves, anisotropy in particle properties and self-organization, to name a few. Developing an understanding of such features requires the use of advanced diagnostics, specifically adapted to overcome the difficulty posed by investigations of low-density plasma environments. In this work, new laser diagnostic implementations achieved in the course of my research are discussed. This research, focusing on coherent and incoherent Thomson scattering on a number of low-temperature plasma devices, has contributed to new insights into the nature of plasma waves, electron transport and fundamental electron properties in these devices.
