The DELF (Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française) and the DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) are national diplomas awarded by the French Ministry of Education, Higher Learning and Research. These diplomas officially certify that foreigners have achieved a given level of knowledge, practice and proficiency in the French language.

These diplomas are lifelong qualifications and they may not be taken again once passed. The DELF has included 4 levels while the DALF has 2.

The Institute of French Language of the University of Orleans is an examination centre that has been officially approved by France Education International and by the Orleans-Tours Rectorate for taking the DELF and the DALF examinations.

 

Public in question

Foreign nationals and French citizens from a non-Francophone country, and who do not hold a French public secondary school education or post-secondary education diploma may be awarded the DELF or the DALF.

Description of examinations

Four skills are evaluated for each diploma: 

• listening comprehension,
• reading comprehension,
• spoken production
• and written production

Each counts for 25 points. The examinations are collective except for one individual part (spoken production). The DELF and the DALF are constituted by six entirely independent diplomas. Candidates can register directly for the examination they wish to take according to their level.

The French Institute of Orléans University offers four of the six diplomas: DELF A2, DELF B1, DELF B2 and DALF C1.

The French Institute is organizing a specific DELF B2 examination in February 2024. The written examination will take place on February 8th 2024 afternoon and the oral examination from February 9th 2024.

The DELF B2 registration procedure is now paperless. Thanks to fill out this online application form.

The deadline to register is Monday 22nd January 2024.

Cancellation and refund conditions :

• In case of cancellation by the candidate before the 22nd February 2024 included, the candidate may be fully refunded the registration fee.
• In case of cancellation by the candidate from the 23rd February 2024, no refund will be made.
• If the candidate is absent from the tests, no refund will be made.
• In the case of cancellation of the tests by the French Institute due to cases of force majeur, the candidate will be fully reimbursed the registration fees.

Examination - May 2024

The DELF A2/B1/B2 examination and the DALF C1 examination will be from May, 22th to May, 30th 2024.

Before the examination, the IDF is offering 12 hours specific training courses for DELF B1, DELF B2 and DALF C1 from May, 13th to May, 17th 2024.
