There are dozens of ways to say "yes" and many possible interpretations of these uses. That undeniable empirical reality has never been modeled in linguistics. Recently (Petit 2009) the LLL (Laboratoire Ligérien de Linguistique) developed methods to describe and model this prosodic meaning. To find all kinds of usages of a word, devices for automatic processing of oral corpora must be developed and discriminative models if the different uses of the word must be built. This project aims at addressing this problem by combining linguistics (LLL), computer science (LIFO), mathematics (MAPMO), signal processing and speech recognition (IRAUS).
The study will be first conducted on "oui" and "yes" from oral corpora (2000 uses)
