Some information about student accommodation

CROUS: university residence

The Crous is a public administrative institution independent of the university, which manages student residences. Enrolment at university is therefore independent of admission to university accommodation, and the number of places available is limited. For an overview of accommodation: https://www.crous-orleans-tours.fr/se-loger/visiter-nos-logements/visiter-nos-logements-a-orleans/

To apply for CROUS accommodation, create an account at: https://www.messervices.etudiant.gouv.fr/

Then apply for accommodation  https://www.crous-orleans-tours.fr/etudes-internationales/se-loger-en-france/

CAF

There is a financial aid scheme called CAF (Caisse Allocations Familiales) and students can benefit from it under certain conditions*, in particular if :

  • You are staying in France for more than 3 months
  • You have obtained your long-stay visa
  • Your visa obtained from the French embassy does not include the words “exemption temporaire de carte de séjour” (temporary residence permit exemption).

*You will need documents such as your birth certificate and its certified French translation.
