The Loire Linguistics Laboratory (LLL) is a joint research unit (UMR 7270) of the CNRS, bringing together linguists from the Universities of Orléans and Tours, and curators and staff from the Audiovisual Department of the French National Library (BnF). Present on three sites, it reports to the Ministry of Higher Education and Research and, on behalf of the BnF, to the Ministry of Culture and Communication. The LLL is a member of the French Linguistics Institute Research Federation (FR 2393) and the Maison des Sciences de l'Homme Val-de-Loire, a Service and Research Unit (USR 3105). The LLL Orléans is part of the Multidisciplinary Thematic Institute (ITP) Modeling, Systems and Languages (MSL) at the University of Orléans.

It brings together 32 professors (PR) and associate professors (MCF) and 1 research fellow (CR), 9 of whom are qualified to direct research (HDR), 5 curators and 8 engineers and technicians. It brings together 34 doctoral students in the two doctoral schools in Tours (ED 240) and Orléans (ED 378), 5 associate professors and 2 associate full professors, 1 emeritus professor and around 20 French and foreign collaborators, making over one hundred people.

Its activities focus on the construction, processing and exploitation of oral corpora, in all their dimensions. It covers all the disciplines of linguistics: phonology and phonetics, morphology, lexicology, syntax, semantics and pragmatics, discourse analysis, taking diachrony into account, and applications in didactics and NLP. It publishes the Revue de Sémantique et Pragmatique.

The LLL makes a significant contribution to the description of a wide variety of languages (Portuguese-based Creoles, Samba-leko, Dagara, Sèmè and Ikwéré in sub-Saharan Africa, Palikur and Wayampi in French Guiana), with a strong presence in the languages of instruction: French (ESLO corpus), English (pronunciation dictionary), Spanish and German. Its work also extends to Arabic, Berber, Chinese, Japanese, ...
