The Research Team on Contexts and Players in Education (ÉRCAÉ - UR 7493) is a multi-disciplinary educational research team. It brings together researchers in educational science, psychology, sports sciences, literature, languages, history, geography, science didactics, mathematics and biology.

Its members carry out research into teaching, education and learning in and out of school, training and professionalization in the field of education, and more generally in the field of relationships with others. The team focuses on analyzing the logics of action at work in the school and family environment, as well as in vocational training and lifelong learning.

The research team is interested in the interactions between the contexts of educational action, teaching/learning and training (from the reality of the classroom and school to the socio-economic, institutional and regulatory environment) and the experience of players (practices and representations, professional identity, collective logics, partnership arrangements, etc.).

The ERCAE is the backbone laboratory for the MEEF Masters programs of the Faculty of Education (INSPE) of the Orléans-Tours education authority, and brings together researchers and teacher-researchers attached to training centers in the six departments of the Centre Val-de-Loire region. This local presence is reflected in the many partnerships developed in the region, notably in the context of research partnerships with the local education authority and academic inspectorates, the Regional Council, the Department Council 37, CAUE 37, Centre Science, GIP FTLV-IP, Graine Centre, etc. The ERCAE also maintains regular collaborations with European and international academic partners (notably in Brazil, Canada, Spain, Estonia and Mexico).
