The project
The Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) project aims to train volunteer teachers to teach all or part of their courses in English. However, teaching in a foreign language does not simply mean translating your course into another language. That is why we are offering training for INSPE teacher-trainers, as well as for interested primary and secondary education teachers.
Objectives
In addition to reflecting on the very nature of teaching in a foreign language, and what it implies in terms of preparation and implementation, this training course also enables participants to enrich their linguistic skills (courses are held in English) and tackle the notions of plurilingualism and multiculturalism. Participation in this training also facilitates intercultural encounters and exchanges of views within our institute and network.
In addition, the Faculty of Education (INSPE) will be offering a semester entirely in English in January 2025 for M1 MEEF primary education students. The CLIL training course is also designed to support the trainers who will be involved in this semester.
About the course
Since September 2020, INSPE CVL teachers have been offered an annual training course, which comprises 3 modules of 6 hours each, spread over the year, and 2 one-day seminars. The modules are distance learning (4 x 1.5 hours for each module), while the seminars are face-to-face. Each year, during the second seminar, we welcome foreign teacher-researchers to discuss the development of CLIL teaching in their countries, how future teachers are trained or made aware of this teaching, and advances in research in this field.
