3. Which Type of Adjunct Lecturer Contract Suits You?

See which type of contract corresponds to your profile as an adjunct lecturer.


The 87-889 amended decree of 29 October 1987 on the recruiting and employing conditions of temporary lecturers defines two types of staff who can carry out temporary teaching assignments in higher education institutions: Hourly-paid Lecturers (CEV) and Hourly-paid Lecturers with a doctoral or retired status (ATV).

 

Hourly-paid lecturers (CEV)

 

Profiles

  • Civil servants and contract workers in active employment;
  • Private-sector employees;
  • Freelance workers.

 

Types of courses

  • Lectures (CM);
  • Seminars (TD);
  • Practical work (TP).

 

Annual hour limit

192 hours equivalent to seminars ("HETD")

Note: The annual limit is of 96 hours equivalent to seminars (HETD) for permanent post holders on secondment.

 

Hourly-paid lecturer with a doctoral or retired status (ATV)

 

Profiles

  • Doctoral students;
Note: The details of the different doctorate student profiles are attached below. 
  • Pensioners.
Note: Pensioners must be less than 67 years old on the 1st of September of the recruitment year.

 

Types of courses

♦ Seminars (TD);

♦ Practical work (TP).

 

Annual hour limit

96 hours equivalent to seminars (HETD).

Note: The annual limit is of 64 hours equivalent to tutorials (HETD) for contract workers.
