Keywords of the CE Area: Combustion, Explosions, Deflagration, Detonation, Shock waves, Gas, Energy materials, Dust, Pyrolysis, Fire.
The CE Area brings together 3 main skills:
- Understanding the phenomena that can bring a reactive system to catch fire and to explode
- Developing knowledge to limit the inherent risks and to allow multi-physical coupling
- Linking the pyrolysis of materials or hydrocarbon with the applications in propulsion and fire safety
Applications are oriented towards the control of industrial risks and the study of explosions and their consequences, as well as towards propulsion.
Research themes
- Ignition of gas- and solid-phase explosions (A&E)
- Laser ignition of vaporized hydrocarbons and energetic materials: EMI, spectroscopy, ignition probability, overpressure
- Dust explosion: electrical discharge, granulometry, explosion propagation - Understanding the mechanisms of explosions and their effects (CM2E)
- Slow to rapid deflagration, Deflagration-detonation transition, Detonation in inhomogeneous gaseous reactive media, Influence of confinement and obstruction
- Shock and pressure wave propagation and interaction with the surrounding environment - Permeation, Pyrolysis, Combustion and Fires (P2CF)
- Flow/porous materials interaction
- Fire behavior of heterogeneous materials
