Erasmus+ and non-European exchange students from a partner university of the University of Orléans.
🎓The Bachelor of Technology (BUT)
The Bachelor of Technology (BUT) is a national degree. It offers general and technological training in a professional field and awards a Licence-level diploma.
The program lasts 3 years to provide efficient vocational training, giving each graduate the skills needed for a successful entry into working life, as well as theoretical knowledge for further studies.
IUT Orléans offers 6 specializations of the BUT:
- BUT Chemistry
- BUT Business and Administration Management (GEA)
- BUT Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering (GMP)
- BUT Computer Science
- BUT Energy Transition and Energy Efficiency (MT2E)
- BUT Quality, Logistics and Industrial Organisation (QLIO)
🗣️French language requirement
All courses are taught in French. International students who want to join IUT Orléans must provide proof of at least B2 level in French (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
Acceptable proofs include: an official French language test (e.g. TCF or DELF), OR a French-language certificate signed by a French-teaching professor at your home university (with the university’s stamp), OR a positioning test certificate in French (free, via the academy.europa.eu site).
🧩 Organization of the courses
Teaching combines different formats: lectures (CM), practical labs (TP) and tutorials (TD). This is complemented by project-based work and situational exercises (SAE). Exchange students must follow the full course load of the semester.
Internships in companies may be possible each year depending on your visa and home university. Typical durations are: 2-4 weeks in BUT1, 8-10 weeks in BUT2, and 12-14 weeks in BUT3. However, if you don’t do an internship due to visa constraints, you won’t be penalized.
👉You can find the University calendar here.
