Part-time Lecturer or Adjunct Lecturer?

See which type of contract corresponds to your profile as a temporary teacher.

 

The 87-889 amended decree of 29 October 1987 on the recruiting and employing conditions of temporary lecturers defines two types of staff who can carry out temporary teaching assignments in higher education institutions: part-time lecturers ("chargé d'enseignement vacataire") and adjunct lecturers ("agent temporaire vacataire").

 

Part-time Lecturers (CEV)

 

Profiles:

♦ Civil servants and contract workers in active employment;

♦ Private-sector employees;

♦ Freelance workers.

 

Types of courses:

♦ Lectures (CM);

♦ Tutorials (TD);

♦ Practical work (TP).

 

Annual limit:

192 hours equivalent to tutorials ("HETD")

Note: The annual limit is of 96 hours equivalent to tutorials (HETD) for permanent post holders on secondment.

 


 

Adjunct Lecturers (ATV)

 

Profiles:

♦ Doctoral students;

Note: The details of the different doctorate student profiles are attached below. 

♦ Pensioners.

Note: Pensioners must be less than 67 years old on the 1st of September of the recruitment year.

 

Types of courses:

♦ Tutorials (TD);

♦ Practical work (TP).

 

Annual limit:

96 hours equivalent to tutorials (HETD).

Note: The annual limit is of 64 hours equivalent to tutorials (HETD) for contract workers.
