A renovated historical site

The city center Campus project represents a major initiative from the University of Orléans to relocate the Faculty of Law, Economics and Management at the heart of Orléans, on the historical site of the former Madeleine Hospital. Expected to open its doors at the beginning of the university year 2027, this campus will welcome more than 4,000 students in a modern, historical place that is respectful of its environment.

The campus will spread over 18,000 m2, including the restored buildings of the former general hospital as well as new buildings, one of which the new Learning Center with 600 seats. The architectural project, revealed at the city council on October 21, 2021, aims at turning Orléans into a true student city.

A sustainable and ecological approach

Following a strong ecological approach, the campus will feature green spaces, photovoltaic panels, bicycle parking and direct access to public transport. Located in a natural environment classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in a Natura 2000 zone and in a natural zone of ecological, fauna and flora interest, the project fully respects its environmental setting.

A modern teaching hub

The construction work has started in 2024, with the renovation of the existing buildings for the 5,800 m² administrative center, and will continue in 2025 with the construction of the building dedicated to teaching. The latter will comprise 12,000 m² of teaching space, including six lecture halls seating between 100 and 600, a 600-seat Learning Center, areas dedicated to student life and underground parking for 600 bicycles.

The City Center Campus embodies the ambition of the University of Orléans and the Orléans Metropolis to improve the attractiveness of the region by offering students an innovative, sustainable learning environment rooted in the city's history.
