Located just one hour from Paris, the Orléans Metropolitan Area comprises 22 communes, both rural and urban, with a combined population of almost 290,000. Orléans, the regional capital, is the central city with 114,644 inhabitants.

The Orléans Metropolis combines a central geographical location, a privileged environment and a rich historical heritage dating back several centuries. All of these assets contribute to a high-quality living environment, a dynamic economy and population, and an abundant cultural offer. The Loire River, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, flows through Orléans and several of the metropolitan area's communes, contributing to the area's identity. Every two years, the royal river is the stunning backdrop for the Festival de Loire; Europe's biggest gathering of river boaters.

Easy to live in, the metropolitan area boasts two tramway lines, a comprehensive bus network, short- and long-term bicycle hire and numerous cycle paths. It features all the major facilities needed to ensure the comfort of its residents, including a hospital center that will become a university hospital center (CHUO) in 2023 and CO'Met, a unique facility in France inaugurated in 2022, combining an exhibition center, a 10,000-seat Arena and a convention center.
