The UO has implemented a waste sorting system to favour recycling. To do so, the University chose to favour voluntary disposal by placing sorting bins in passage areas (corridors, common rooms, halls). This new package aims at reducing the number of single waste bins that put a brake on recycling.
Voluntary disposal is based on everyone’s ecological and civic streak. This package makes waste easier to collect and adapts to the evolution of its environment so that everyone can freely dispose of recyclable waste without it being a constraint.
The Orleans Institute of Technology (IUT) offered to become the pilot department before the package was fully integrated throughout all the buildings of the UO.
