Contenu de la page principale

Functional protection is a system designed to protect civil servants in the event of attacks or threats related to the performance of their duties. Functional protection may include preventive and supportive measures, legal and judicial assistance, as well as compensation for damages suffered by the official. These measures are intended to ensure the safety and well-being of the official concerned.

Who can benefit from functional protection?

All civil servants, regardless of their status (permanent or contract employees), as well as their family members, may request functional protection if they are victims of physical or psychological harm, violence, harassment, threats, insults, defamation, or contempt in the course of their duties. This protection also applies in the event of criminal or civil proceedings related to the performance of their duties, except in cases of personal misconduct unrelated to their official duties.

How can I request it?

To apply for functional protection, the staff member must submit a written request addressed to the University President and complete the functional protection request form. This request may be submitted at any time and must be accompanied by the necessary documentation for processing the case. Upon receipt of the request, the employee will receive an acknowledgment of receipt.

Processing of the request

The decision is communicated to the university staff member. The legal deadline for processing a request for functional protection is two months. If no response is received within this period, the request is deemed to have been denied.
