The University of Orléans is committed to promoting sustainable mobility to reduce the carbon footprint of travel by its staff and students. Its strategy focuses on developing eco-friendly modes of transport such as cycling, public transportation, carpooling, and walking.
Promoting Cycling: A Key Focus of UO’s Sustainable Mobility Policy
Since 2019, the University of Orléans has been encouraging cycling through various initiatives — including the installation of secure bike shelters (accessible with a student card after activation).
It has also reinforced and improved existing racks and shelters, while providing tools and air pumps for cyclists inside the secured areas.
Bike loans for students
Want to learn how to ride a bike or regain your confidence before getting back in the saddle?
The SUAPSE offers courses to help you learn to ride safely and get comfortable cycling again.
Free bike repair workshops with the “1-Terre-Actions” association
A safe bike path across the La Source campus
A secure cycle path now runs through the La Source campus — from the Parc Floral to the Faculty of Humanities — following the tram line that connects to the STAPS Department, and continuing along Rue de Saint-Amand between Polytech and the IRD building.
Financial Support for Sustainable Mobility
Staff can benefit from financial assistance through the Sustainable Mobility Package, which encourages commuting by bike or carpooling.
Subsidies are also available for public transport subscriptions to promote alternatives to car use.
