To address today’s major environmental, social, and economic challenges, the University of Orléans adopted on July 11, 2025, by a vote of its Board of Directors, its Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility (DDRS) Master Plan.

What is the DDRS Master Plan of the University of Orléans?

This strategic document sets out the University’s roadmap to place ecological transition and social responsibility at the heart of its missions.

Developed collectively in 2024 with faculty members, researchers, students, and administrative staff, the plan aligns with the objectives of the 2030 Agenda and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as with national commitments of higher education institutions, particularly carbon neutrality.

The DDRS Master Plan is based on five complementary pillars:

  • Strategy and governance: including sustainable development into the University’s management and decision-making.
  • Teaching and training: raising awareness and educating students and staff on the challenges of the transition.
  • Research and innovation: fostering responsible, open research addressing societal challenges.
  • Environment: reducing the ecological footprint of campuses and preserving biodiversity.
  • Equality and diversity: promoting inclusion, gender equality, and quality of life at work.

This plan represents an overarching and evolving approach. Its goal is to engage the entire University community and to make the campuses of the University of Orléans exemplary spaces for sustainability and social responsibility.
